Out on a walk in Atlas Park, Shay Caron and his girlfriend were set upon by a gang of common criminals. Ducking into a museum to try to hide, they stumbled upon a not yet opened exhibit featuring Japanese weaponry centuries old. A beat-up katana in the back captured Shay's attention; when his hand touched the hilt, a surge of speed and strength flowed into his body. Shay easily defeated the thugs with the katana's help, and at its request, he decided to continue to fight crime, taking the blade's name as his identity: "Shugotenshi", Japanese for "guardian angel".

Character Notes

It's me! Well, not exactly. Shugotenshi was created during a role-playing session in which a fictional version of me turned into a samurai (with a bit of influence from Bleach-style shinigami). So when my real-life girlfriend tried out a trial version of CoH, I created a samurai-me to fight alongside her heroine. That was "Shugotenshiken" on the Victory server; I recently recreated him because I wanted to stick with the slightly shorter name.

He looks quite like me, in fact. I love the character creation. My hair's a lot longer than that now, though.
