[Shay speaks]

Ah, good old Justin. I created this character back in high school, and he's been represented at least once in just about every RPG I play. And since he is a superhero, after all, how could I not play him here?

"If you think you can handle the pain, come at me."

By the age of 22, the bright and determined Justin Forrester had become an accomplished inventor as well as a talented martial artist. At a bank one afternoon, he was shot by a group of thieves when he refused to hand over the money he'd withdrawn. Infuriated at his own helplessness, Justin set to building a series of gadgets that would help him take out criminals, complementing his already considerable fighting skills. He tracked down and defeated the thugs who'd taken his money, and from then on, he decided to fight crime on a regular basis as the City Protector.

Character Notes

Presenting the star of Protection, my perpetually postponed webcomic: Justin Forrester, also known as the Protector. I first created him over 5 years ago, and he's stuck with me longer than any other character, any other story I've ever come up with. In fact, this entire web site is named after him! So really, it was only natural that I bring a version of him to Paragon City.

I had a hard time deciding how exactly I'd represent him; the comic version of the Protector has lasers and various weapons in addition to his martial arts skills. (He's a bit overpowered, perhaps.) My first attempt was an Energy/Gadget Blaster, but that guy was way too fragile. I eventually decided Scrapper was the best archetype. Justin's the type to rush right into a fight with his fists (and feet, and weapons) flying.

The other hard decision I had to make was choosing his defense power set. It was between Invulnerability, Regeneration, and Super Reflexes, all of which could fit his concept. I finally decided that for the Protector, what's most important isn't his toughness or his dodging speed, but his bloody-minded refusal to die. He takes plenty of hits, but he keeps getting up. I figure Regeneration matches that the best.

Sadly, other players beat me to the name "Protector". So I went with "City Protector". I wanted it to be "City's Protector", but at the time I created him, that was just one character too long.

Oh, one last thing! Justin's got a LiveJournal account, though he doesn't use it too often. He's [info]herotype.
